Biography
Mathieu Asselin (Aix-en-Provence, 1974) started his career in Caracas, Venezuela. At the age of 16 he began as an assistant cameraman with Venezuelan director and producer Alfredo Anzola. In 2000 he moved to France to continue his career as a photographer, joining the French Agency L'Oeil du Sud in Marseille. In 2002 he covered the story of Las Barranquillas, a slum on the outskirts of Madrid and the biggest drug dealing zone in Europe. During the last five years, Mathieu Asselin has been living and working in New York as an International correspondent for l'Oeil du Sud and working with such clients as NYU and WE Entertainment TV. His work has been featured in Paris Match, El Pais, Le Monde, National Geographic Adventure, Altair, Razor Magazine, and Gente.
