Ivan Larra / Viridae
July, 2007

A virus is probably one of the most difficult forms of life to understand. Unlike other forms of life, they cannot reproduce themselves but instead have to rely upon other organisms to do so. For this reason, any visual representation of a virus requires us to think abstractly since its appearance is of small importance when compared with its behaviour.

Each virus created by artist and designer Iván Larra is unique. Organic forms created by violet or cyan stains are presented in hermetically sealed boxes, using esthetic elements from science in order to provide us with a wholly new visual representation of viruses.

The pieces have been produced in collaboration with MedioDesign
